The Northeast Philadelphia police officers responded to the accident at 10:29 am on Saturday morning. That is when they found a person was struck as they tried to cross the road at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Southampton Road. The pedestrian was attempting to cross Roosevelt Blvd against the red light. That is when police said a black 2015 Ford Taurus was traveling southbound along the same route. The vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital but died there shortly after arrival.
The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene. The Philadelphia Police are investigating the incident to determine who was at fault.
