Associate Michael Sommar
Michael Sommar is an Associate Attorney at Kwartler Manus practicing in the firm’s Philadelphia and New Jersey offices. Prior to joining Kwartler Manus, Michael gained valuable experience working at a civil defense firm where he represented insurance companies, corporations and individuals in a wide-range of matters. During that time, defended clients in various personal injury cases ranging from slip-and-fall and automotive accidents to more complex mass tort/toxic tort claims.
Having worked on the defense side, Michael brings valuable insight into how opposing counsel approaches personal injury claims. He now applies that experience to his plaintiff-side practice, bringing the same vigorous advocacy to representing injured individuals that he once brought to defending his clients. His experience allows him to anticipate opposing counsel’s approach, recognize potential weaknesses in the defense’s arguments, and develop effective strategies on behalf of his clients throughout the litigation process.
Michael earned his B.B.A. in Business Administration at Iona College before obtaining his J.D. from Widener University – Delaware Law School, where he graduated cum laude. Michael is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
Outside of his practice, Michael lives in Philadelphia with his wife. He enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing and playing the guitar.
