
Dispatchers reported that a person could be heard screaming on multiple 911 calls that came in after a driver is said to have intentionally struck a person with their car. The accident took place in Haddon Township in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Chestnut Streets.
According to initial reports, officers arrived on the scene at about 12:45 am. They found a person with injuries sustained from being struck by a car.
Police reported that the driver was charged with attempted murder, leading the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury, and assault by auto resulting in serious bodily injury.
An investigation revealed that a person was trying to stop a car burglary from occurring when the driver hit them. The accident resulted in both of the person’s legs being broken.
