Road Closure and Critical Injuries
Rescue teams were called to the scene of the accident at about 10:37 am. The incident took place at the intersection of Black Horse Pike (State Highway 168) and Garden Avenue. According to the Gloucester Township Police Department, two people had been ejected from the motorcycle. Rescuers found the operator and the passenger in the roadway with serious injuries.
Both people were taken to Cooper University Hospital's Trauma Center in Camden with reported serious injuries, though both were said to be stable. The driver of the car was not hurt and did not leave the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine who is at fault in the incident and why it occurred. What investigators confirmed was that the motorcycle was stopped on Garden Avenue, waiting to make a left turn onto the southbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike. As the motorcycle made that turn, the front passenger side of the car struck the bike. Police believe speed and distracted driving are not likely to be factors, but they continue to investigate.
