Details Revealed in Accident
The press release indicates the accident happened at about 9:17 am. Police and rescue crews were called to the intersection of Route 309 and Taylor Road for a single-vehicle accident. When they arrived, first responders saw a large amount of white vapor coming from the engine of the tanker truck. They later determined the vehicle was releasing radiator coolant. It was not propane.
As a result, crews worked to remove the driver from the vehicle. Emergency workers then secured all safety valves on the propane tank to ensure there was no leak occurring.
Because of the potential threat, police evaluated people from the immediate residences and businesses in the area. In addition, all residents and businesses within a 1,000-foot radius were told to shelter in place until crews assessed the area.
Teams worked to secure the area and upright the tanker truck. The Montgomery County Hazardous Materials Team determined the vehicle was safe, and the shelter-in-place advisory was removed at 11:07 am.
