Reports out of Atlantic City show that several people suffered injuries after an ATV driven by police officers crashed as it attempted to board a Boardwalk tram. Witness Report Seeing the Accident Unfold
Witnesses at the scene of the ATV crash said the police officers were trying to cross the boardwalk. At the same time, beachgoers were attempting to get on the Atlantic City Boardwalk tram. The ATVs driven by police officers struck the passengers. They then collided with each other. Both police officers were thrown from the ATV, which ultimately overturned.
Witness video of the accident shows the ATVs following one another towards the tram as at least one person is trying to get on the tram. The ATV collides with the pedestrian, revs up on its back wheels, and flips while the second ATV crashes into the first. It’s unclear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries. Police did not initially provide additional information about what occurred. Internal reviews are underway.
