Driver Trapped After Accident
Initial information about the accident indicates that the tractor-trailer went off Interstate 276 (PA Turnpike) near mile marker 338.8 in the westbound lanes. This happened in Upper Dublin Township.
The driver was trapped in the vehicle, and water levels rose around the driver from the nearby creek. Witnesses to the wreckage said the truck was "hanging over" the guardrail and the driver was clearly visible inside but unable to open the door. The truck had, for unknown reasons, veered off the road and into the guardrail, partially into the creek.
At about 10:57 pm, Urban Search and Rescue was called to the scene. Marine rescuers prepared for the marine rescue as water continued to rise and enter the truck cab. However, local rescue workers, including the fire companies that arrived first on the scene, made progress and got the truck driver out of the vehicle.
It is unclear what the driver's condition was after the accident. No information was provided about why the truck accident occurred.
