Van and Car Collide
Initial information about the accident indicates that police were called to the scene of a crash at the 7200 block of Torresdale Avenue. When they arrived, they found that an Infiniti G35 and a Nissan NV3500 van had collided head-on.
Police determined two brothers were in the Infiniti, both suffering head injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The passenger was taken to a hospital nearby but died as a result of his injuries. The other person was in critical condition.
The Infiniti was traveling northbound on Torresdale Avenue. The driver swerved around a double-parked car and entered the southbound lane. That is when it collided with a van driving southbound. The driver of the van and their front-seat passenger did not suffer injuries in the crash.
The van driver initially left the scene on foot after a crowd gathered around the van. He told police he felt threatened. He returned and was cooperating with the police. Images from the accident show significant damage to both vehicles. Speed may have played a role in the accident. Police were investigating.
