Box Truck Accident Cause Unknown
News reports stated that the driver of a 2019 Freightliner box truck was stopped in traffic. It was unloading building materials at the time of the incident. The truck reversed down into a long driveway to make the delivery.
Traffic coming from both directions waited while the driver reversed down the driveway. That is when a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling westbound failed to stop. The driver was unable to stop in time, veered off the roadway to the right, traveled along the dirt shoulder, and then re-entered the road before striking the front of the box truck. The end result was a head-on collision.
The driver was treated by the EHT ambulance squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. The driver was then taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. Unfortunately, the driver did not survive the injuries. Local police are investigating the accident. They’ve requested that witnesses with any information come forward.
