
Police in Kensington report that a person lost their life in a hit-and-run accident that happened on Allegheny Avenue on Wednesday. Police say the incident occurred at about 5:43 am.
According to reports, the accident took place at the intersection of F Street and Allegheny Avenue. The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to an area hospital but lost their life. News reports indicated that two vehicles were involved. A damaged white SUV was evident on the roadway, resting against a parked car. Crews were working to tow a black sedan with its doors removed and its airbags deployed. The police updated that the person who lost their life was in the 2008 Honda Accord. It was struck on the driver's side.
Police also revealed that a white Acura RDX was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran the red light at the intersection just before the crash. After the crash occurred, two people climbed out of the Acura and fled the scene on foot. They were headed northbound on F Street and then west onto East Hilton Street. Police are investigating.
