What Happened on Route 70?
Initial reports indicate that the crash took place at about 11:05 am on Thursday at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Green Acres Road. The Manchester Township Police Department said that the grey 2004 Mack garbage truck was traveling at an unsafe speed and struck a Ford F-150 that was waiting at the landfill exit near the traffic signal. The force was so much that it overturned the garbage truck onto its driver's side.
Further investigation by police found that the garbage truck driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to turn into the landfill entrance, doing so at a high rate of speed. The driver braked at high speed, causing the accident. The truck slid into the truck. One person was hurt in the accident and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but declined medical transport from the scene. The driver of the truck also suffered injuries but did not request hospitalization. A passenger in the truck was not hurt.
