According to officials, the accident happened on May 17th. That's when a vehicle crashed into the Family Dollar building on Foulkrod Street in Philadelphia.
A mother with four children was nearby, and two of those children suffered injuries requiring medical care. The mother immediately went to check on the driver and found the individual was clearly experiencing a medical event.
The spouse of the driver later states that the driver felt faint just prior to the accident and noted that the driver had a pacemaker and known heart issues. The driver may have pressed the gas instead of the brake at that moment.
Medical Conditions and Accidents
When a person's medical condition causes a serious accident, victims still have the right to pursue legal action against that party for the losses they incurred. The insurance company for that driver will cover losses such as medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Even though this type of event may seem accidental, insurance is there to protect victims.
