According to county dispatch records, rescuers were called at about 10:07 am after witnesses reported a vehicle had crashed into the side of a bridge in Lower Gwynedd Township. The incident took place near Penilyn Pike and Pershing Road.
Reports indicated that the driver of the dump truck was outside the wrecked vehicle, walking around. It is unclear whether that person suffered injuries. However, the dump truck caused potential damage to the area's electrical lines, and it was initially unclear how extensive the structural damage to the bridge was.
As a result, SEPTA trains running along the top of the bridge were halted for some time. Professionals inspected the tracks to determine if they were impacted by the accident. That resulted in the shutdown of Penilyn Pike at Wister Avenue for some time. Numerous crews were called to the scene to support the case.
