The accident took place on Saturday. According to surveillance footage on the same block, a driver continued well past the traffic cones marking off the construction site. They drove past warning signs. That is when the driver plunged into the large construction hole. This happened near 21st and Laveer Streets. It is close to the Imhotep Charter High School. Neighbors in the area provided news reports with insight, stating the signs for the construction work have been up for months. They also stated several drivers were not taking those signs seriously.
