According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the driver of a Dodge Charger died in the accident. For unknown reasons, the driver slammed into a concrete barrier along I-95 North near mile marker 23 in Philadelphia. The wreck happened at about 2:05 am on Saturday morning.
When state troopers arrived at the scene, they found a black Dodge Charger that was partially engulfed in flames. It struck the left concrete barrier along the roadway. Troopers approached the vehicle and shattered the rear window to get the driver out. However, the driver did not respond to them. The flames were too intense for the troopers to remain near the vehicle.
The Philadelphia Fire Department arrived quickly to extinguish the blaze. The driver was not initially identified but did lose their life in the accident. The accident is under investigation. Some witnesses told news reporters that the driver was driving erratically along the roadway prior to hitting the concrete barrier.
