Police Continue to Investigate
The initial information from police shows that no one sustained life-threatening injuries. The incident involved two dump trucks, a school bus, and two passenger vehicles. The crash happened just after 4 pm. That is when a red dump truck rear-ended a white SUV. This led to the start of a chain-reaction collision. The white SUV sustained the most damage. It also involved a driver and three children stuck in the vehicle. The white SUV's airbags deployed in the incident.
A total of 14 people were taken to the hospital. All were either released or in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The school bus driver and nine children were among those taken to the hospital. Information from the Monroe Township Public Schools indicates that the bus was traveling along the road after leaving Oak Knoll Elementary School. All students were eventually released from the hospital.
Police were investigating the accident for several hours. Photos show significant debris in the roadway. No information about fault was established, but the company that owns the dump truck is reportedly cooperating with police.
