Morning Crash Causes Serious Risk
The initial information from police indicates that a driver was traveling along Chester Pike Road when they swerved to avoid another vehicle. That caused the car to crash through a concrete embankment and then area fencing. It eventually went over the edge of the roadway and was dangling above Little Crum Creek.
News helicopters showed video of a gold sedan hanging over the ledge. Emergency teams worked to rescue the people within using a ladder to reach the vehicle. Eventually, they removed the driver. The other person in the vehicle with the driver was able to exit on their own. Crews then had to remove the passenger-side door to reach the trapped driver.
Rescuers reported that one person suffered injuries to their knees, but no party suffered serious injuries. The driver was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital for an evaluation. Crews then used a crane to remove the vehicle from the embankment. Police are still investigating the accident to determine its cause.
