Vehicle Flees the Scene
According to initial reports, the incident took place while the bike rider was heading east on Tioga Street. A white Honda Pilot was traveling southbound on Jasper Street. The Honda blew through the red light at the intersection with Tioga Street and struck the bike rider. The rider was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police reported the driver left the scene of the accident. However, about three hours later, the driver arrived at the 24th District to confess to the accident. Police reported the driver was cooperating, but it is not clear whether charges would be applicable.
