An early Saturday morning accident resulted in the loss of life for three people, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. The incident happened when a pickup truck was traveling the wrong way along Interstate 76 and struck two vehicles in head-on crashes. Investigating Devastating Accidents
Rescuers were called to mile marker 330 at around 4:50 am for reports of a crash. While they were there, police saw a white Ford pickup truck drive eastbound in the westbound lanes. They reported the incident to nearby units. The truck was operating at a high rate of speed.
The troopers on the scene reported the truck was driving directly toward them. They fled and attempted to stop it twice. That is when the vehicle struck two other vehicles head-on. Three people were killed in the accident.
The Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the accident. It is not clear why the truck driver was operating in the wrong direction or why the driver failed to stop for police.
