SEPTA officials reported that an SUV became disabled along the train tracks in South Philadelphia early Monday morning. It is unclear what caused the accident, but a tow truck was called to the scene to remove the truck from the track area. This occurred at 9000 Bartram Avenue, near the I-95 ramp and the Philadelphia International Airport.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital. It is unclear what caused the SUV to become inoperable on the tracks, but no service disruption was noted by SEPTA. The accident happened at around 3:30 am and was cleared by crews by about 6 am. Investigators were working to determine what caused the crash. Crashes on Train Tracks
Anyone in an accident on the roadway should stop and call for help. But the same applies to train tracks. Some of the most common reasons accidents happen here are because drivers attempt to run the tracks before a train comes or they take them too fast, causing the vehicle to “trip” over the tracks and become stuck. In all situations, get out of your vehicle and call for help.
