When Lyft drivers make mistakes, we move fast to make it right.
Understanding Lyft’s Insurance and Responsibility
Lyft’s insurance system is built to confuse victims. The coverage changes depending on what the driver was doing when the crash occurred. We simplify the chaos and make sure the right policy pays.
Here’s how Lyft coverage typically works:
- App Off: Only the driver’s personal insurance applies.
- App On, Waiting for Ride: Lyft provides limited liability coverage ($50,000 per person / $100,000 per accident).
- Ride Accepted or Passenger in Car: Up to $1 million in coverage through Lyft’s commercial policy.
Even with that coverage, Lyft often denies liability, claiming the driver wasn’t “active” or was between rides. We know how to prove otherwise through app logs, trip data, and digital timestamps.
