Details About the Violent Crash
The incident, which occurred in the Parkside area of the city, generated such force that the trolley was knocked off its tracks and the person was ejected. Police and medical crews arrived at the scene and found the driver on the ground outside the vehicle.
Initial investigations showed that the impact caused the GMC to spin 180 degrees before coming to rest against the sidewalk, which is where they found the driver. The driver did not survive the accident and is noted to have suffered severe head trauma.
It took crews some time to remove the vehicle from the scene. The driver of the SEPTA trolley was not hurt, even though they were very close to the front of the trolley at the time of the accident. Four people were on board the trolley at the time. Two were taken to a nearby hospital with pain concerns.
