The Details of the Fatal Bicycle Accident
Reports from another driver said they struck the bike rider, noting that the rider fell into the roadway and was struck by a second vehicle. The second vehicle continued north. The vehicle stopped briefly but then fled the area. The driver who struck the bike rider then returned to the area two hours later and told police that they were the second driver.
According to the driver’s report, the bike and another vehicle were in the roadway while driving through the area. He also said he felt the vehicle strike an object, but believed it was a large object or rock in the roadway. That driver said they pulled to the side of the road to check the car's damage, not realizing they had struck a person.
The second driver faces up to 10 years in state prison if convicted of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. It is unclear if the other driver, who struck the bike rider first, was facing any charges. Speak with a Gloucester County bicycle accident lawyer from Kwartler Manus after the loss of a loved one.
