A man from Secane has been charged after hitting an e-bike rider in Prospect Park on Friday, according to reports. The man faces assault-by-vehicle charges after he reportedly knocked the rider off his bike during a confrontation. The incident happened around 2:30 am Friday. What Happened in Prospect Park on Friday Morning?
Police were dispatched to the area of 10th and Amosland Road for the report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a person on an e-bike who claimed the suspect had knocked him down with his vehicle, brandished a firearm, and threatened to beat him.
The complainant told police he passed a slow-moving vehicle with its four-way signals on while riding his e-bike. The vehicle then sped up to the bike, with the driver yelling at the cyclist and holding an object that the cyclist thought was a gun. A search of the suspect did not yield a gun. However, he was charged with the following:
- Aggravated assault by vehicle
- Simple assault
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Driving under the influence
It does not appear as if the cyclist suffered injuries in the ordeal.
