82 Year Old Woman Hits 2 People in Sam’s Club Parking Lot in Pleasantville

Police were called to the scene of an accident in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Pleasantville on a Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, they found that a driver had lost control of their vehicle as they were backing up out of a handicapped parking spot. In doing so, the driver struck two pedestrians. Both pedestrians were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The backing car did not stop there. It also struck the corner of the building. That caused the car to lift off the ground slightly and travel only on the driver’s side tires. The car continued to back up until it finally stopped on a grassy embankment. The entire incident was caught on the retailer’s parking lot cameras. Several others attempted to stop the vehicle and were seen running after it in the parking lot.

Police did not charge the elderly driver with the accident. They continued to investigate what happened.

What to Do After Being Struck in a Parking Lot

Parking lots can have odd rules, but they are always hotspots for accidents. There are pedestrians everywhere, including hard-to-see children. There are also numerous vehicles moving up and down the street. This can create an unsafe situation. If you are injured in an accident in a parking lot, contact the police and get medical care. Then, document as much of the accident as you can with photos.

At Kwartler Manus, LLC, we recommend turning to a Pleasantville car accident lawyer to learn what your rights are in a parking lot accident.
