Police reported a recent incident in which a person was struck by the River Line light rail in the city on a Thursday evening around 8:30 p.m. The accident took place in Burlington County at the Pavilion Avenue crossing. Police did not provide many details, but did note that the person who was struck was believed to have been trespassing in the area at the time.

That person was then taken to an area hospital. It was uncertain how serious their injuries were at the time. None of the 35 people on board nor the operator of the light rail train was hurt. Police were still investigating.

Trespassing and Train Accidents

Regardless of when a train accident occurs, the injuries and damage can be devastating. Victims of these accidents deserve a full investigation to determine why they were where they were and if there was a way to avoid the accident. In situations of fault safety equipment or protective designs, the rail line may be found at fault. A comprehensive investigation could reveal more insight into what occurred.
