A tragic accident took place at the 100 block of South Cobbs Creek Parkway at around midnight on Friday. Police were called to the location and found that a pedestrian had been struck in a hit-and-run accident.
Further investigations found that the pedestrian was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Police say that the pedestrian was sitting in the middle of the road at the time of the accident. When he attempted to stand up, he was struck by a vehicle. Investigators are looking for a white sedan with a sunroof for the person who left the deadly crash scene. The pedestrian was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where they died from their injuries.
Hit and Run Accidents and Fault
In an accident like this, a driver has the obligation to avoid pedestrians whenever possible. The driver may not have seen the person sitting in the middle of the street, as that is not an expected situation. That could make a case for the driver not being fully at fault.
However, in this incident, the driver fled the scene, which is a criminal offense. It is likely they will be found and prosecuted as such. The family of the person who lost their life has the right to pursue legal action against that driver as well.
