At around 10:30 a.m. on a recent morning, a pedestrian entered the roadway on Route 553 South in Fairfield Township. That is when a Volkswagen passenger vehicle struck the pedestrian. New Jersey police are investigating to gather more information about why the driver failed to stop and where the person in the road was in a crosswalk.
However, the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. They were then taken to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle also had injuries and was taken to a medical center. It is not clear what the condition of either party was from the initial information released.
