Reports came in of an accident involving a pedestrian struck by a car at just after 5 a.m. in Philadelphia. The details indicate that the victim was walking in traffic along Roosevelt Boulevard near Ridge Avenue in East Falls when more than one vehicle struck them.
The incident took place on Route 1 south near the Ridge Avenue – Kelly Drive Exit. The victim was walking in the center of the southbound lanes at the time of the accident. Police are unsure why the person was walking there.
However, a Honda Pilot traveling southbound in the inner lane tried to avoid hitting the victim, but was unable to do so. That caused the victim to be thrown into the outer southbound lane. That is when a Dodge Charger was able to stop before the accident, but a Toyota Highlander was unable to stop. That led to all three vehicles striking the victim. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and was in critical condition. The drivers of all vehicles remained at the scene and were working with police.
