A two-car accident on the Atlantic City Expressway took place around midday on a Thursday recently. The event left an 80-year-old woman dead.

Police report that the woman stopped her vehicle in the left-hand lane of the Expressway as she was traveling eastbound near mile marker 4.8. A vehicle struck her Hyundai Kona from behind. The driver of the Genesis GV80 who struck the Kona suffered minor injuries. Police are investigating the incident and have not released the cause just yet.

Drivers Stopped on the Roadway

Though we do not have any specific details about what happened in this situation, the Genesis driver is likely to be at fault for not stopping or avoiding the vehicle that was stopped on the side of the road. That driver may have been distracted or speeding at the time, making it impossible for them to stop in time to avoid the driver going off the roadway.

It is never ideal for someone to stop on the expressway, but when such an incident happens, other drivers must take action to avoid causing an accident. Police are still investigating what took place in this situation.
