A Wissinoming gas leak was caused by a three-car accident earlier this week that also left two people injured, according to authorities. All three vehicles involved in the crash were totaled and towed away once the incident was cleared.

About the Wissinoming Crash

The car accident in Wissinoming, a section of Philadelphia, took place on Thursday, March 7th just off of Torresdale Avenue. It occurred at the intersection of Levick and Marsden Streets.

The intersection is controlled by a stop sign and one of the vehicles involved failed to stop. The two cars that collided then struck a parked vehicle before one of them hit a gas meter. The area was closed off by police and fire personnel until PGW could respond to the scene to secure the gas.

Emergency personnel had to also deal with bystanders who kept walking through the scene ignoring the fact that gas was leaking from the damaged gas meter.

What to Do After a Car Crash That Causes a Gas Leak

Car crashes are dangerous to begin with, but when they wind up causing a gas leak, the stakes are even higher. Be sure to vacate your vehicle as soon as possible and get to a safe location away from the leak. Call 911 and inform the dispatcher of the gas leak and where it might be located. Do not return to your vehicle until emergency personnel give the all clear.
