Police reported a van driver lost their life after a crash on Interstate 295 in Burlington County. Two passengers suffered injuries. The incident happened at about 8:50 p.m. when the van driver veered left off the highway. The driver then re-entered the road, struck the right curb, and overturned after losing control. The incident occurred about a half-mile south of the 45A-B exit in Westampton.

State police say the driver was ejected from the van. They lost their life at the scene. The passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their injuries are said to be minor. Police are investigating what caused the driver to initially veer off the side of the road.

Seeking Compensation When the At-Fault Party Dies

In a serious accident like this, where the driver may have been at fault, victims have the right to pursue the driver’s liability insurance at the time of the accident to recover damages. That may include medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. That occurs even if the at-fault party loses their life in the accident. This does make the process more complex and may delay the entire process of recovering damages. Most importantly, you must know how to seek compensation that is fair. The insurance company is not likely to help you easily.
