An intense scene played out in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, recently in which a man died and another was taken into custody. The incident began with officers pulling over a vehicle for a traffic stop because of the window tint present. That happened at Route 1 and Old Lincoln Highway at 3:50 p.m. The two men inside the vehicle made it clear to officers that they had weapons and did not plan to go back to prison.

The responding officers worked to de-escalate the situation, but the individuals took off after 45 minutes in a standoff. That led to a police chase and several crashes with police along the way. Ultimately, a SWAT team negotiated with the suspects for about two hours after the vehicle stopped at a Bristol Pike gas station. To get them to leave the vehicle, police deployed gas. At one point, the driver brandished a handgun and was then fired upon by the SWAT team. The other person was taken into custody after this.

No Civilians Were Hurt

No officers or civilians were hurt in this incident. Police are still investigating the incident and have placed officers involved on administrative leave.

What would happen, though, if another person was hurt? In a case involving injuries to civilians, the legal process would be complex. Hiring an accident attorney could be critical in pursuing full compensation for your losses in such an event.

If you are hurt in a car accident, seek the guidance of our attorneys at Kwartler Manus.
