Three Good Samaritans are being credited with saving a driver’s life after his SUV crashed into the Pleasantville marsh. The incident started when the driver of the SUV, a 2016 Ford Explorer, tried to pass a 2000 Ford Ranchero on Delilah Road near Atlantic Avenue. The SUV sideswiped the Ranchero, struck a utility pole, and then drove into the marsh. The vehicle burst into flames. Call a Kwartler Manus Atlantic County car accident lawyer today.
The Circumstances Surrounding the Crash
At the same time, an Egg Harbor Township K-9 officer was driving by in their patrol car and saw the fire. The officer used a fire extinguisher to knock down some of the flames. It was possible to hear the SUV driver screaming for help. The officer told the driver to get to the back of the vehicle and broke the window to help them escape. The officer and witnesses worked to free the driver.
Numerous people came together to save this driver’s life. It is not clear if anyone suffered significant injuries, though one person had to be taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for non-threatening injuries. Numerous fire crews and rescuers arrived on the scene to aid in the rescue and extinguish the fire.
