Video captured the moment a police officer and good Samaritans rushed to aid a driver after their SUV went off the road into a marsh in Egg Harbor Township. Police body camera footage showed the police officer and witnesses pulling a man from a burning car after the crash. The three put their own lives at risk to pull the person from safety.
The initial investigation shows that the driver of the SUV side-swiped a car they were trying to pass before slamming into a pole. A police officer happened to be nearby and saw the SUV go into the marsh. The victim was taken to the hospital and was said to be very thankful for the rescuer’s efforts that saved his life.

Side-Swipe Accidents
It is unclear what the details of this accident are just yet, but what is known is that the driver tried to pass another vehicle and failed to do so safely. Lane changes can be a common cause of accidents, especially when one car is in another's blind spot. Other times, road rage plays a role in the accident, where a driver speeds up to prevent the other car from merging. In all situations, a full investigation is necessary to determine fault.
