A SEPTA Broad Street Line train reportedly struck and killed a pedestrian in Philadelphia’s Center City area. The accident occurred on Thursday at the Race-Vine Station on the 300 block of North Broad Street at about 5 a.m.. Very little insight was provided on why the incident occurred. Still, police were investigating it and looking to the public for additional information.

SEPTA train lines are critical to transportation around the city. Yet, the city and other organizations must take numerous steps to minimize the risk to the public when accidents occur. In this case, there was no information about where the pedestrian was hit or how the accident happened. However, accidents like these can occur due to poor visibility, reckless operation, and poor warning signs.

By the time rescuers arrived to help, the person under the train had lost their life. The event caused the shutdown of the train lines for several hours after the incident took place.
