Details of the Fatal I-95 Crash
Police say that three vehicles were involved, and there was so much force involved in the impact that one of the cars caught on fire. That was a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, which was engulfed in flames by the time rescuers arrived. The driver of the vehicle was ejected and died from their injuries at the scene.
Rescuers pulled two other people from that vehicle. They were taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. The driver of a 2017 Dodge Journey and a 2015 Honda Accord were also taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
There was no immediate update on their condition.
The investigation revealed that one of the vehicles was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at traffic signals, violating the law. They gathered video footage of the driver speeding eastbound on Street Road, running the light, and then striking the Dodge Journey. That speeding car went airborne, crossed the center median, and struck the Honda Accord before it caught fire.
