A two-car accident on Route 202 in Montgomery Township closed down the roadway in both directions as workers cleared the incident and police investigated. Early information shows that a white SUV sustained heavy damage on the driver’s side, and a dark colored sedan had heavy damage on the front end and was also missing its front left wheel. Police noted that other vehicles may have been involved, but no other vehicles suffered damage.

Those in the vehicle were able to get out of their cars before police arrived. One person was transported by EMS to the local hospital for care, though their condition was not immediately stated.

How Police Piece Together Accidents

In this accident, the damage provides a clear image of who hit whom. Police will use the position of the damage on the vehicles, as well as the severity of that damage, to get a better idea of what occurred. In this case, there was also a significant amount of debris strewn across the street that crews had to remove.

Using this information, witness statements, and any camera footage, police will determine who is at fault. Sometimes, they may not know if another car caused the accident or may incorrectly assign the fault. Having an attorney protects you after mistakes with fault occur.
