Police and rescuers in Montgomery and Bucks counties were busy over the Independence Day weekend. A total of four separate motorcycle crashes occurred, with at least one causing critical injuries to the rider.
The most significant of the motorcycle accidents occurred in Hilltown Township in Bucks County. Police responded to the 1100 block of Church Road just after 7:00 p.m. to find a rider face down in the grass, unconscious. The rider suffered a head injury and was taken to Grand View Hospital as a trauma patient.
Another motorcycle accident occurred in Skippack Township at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The rider was not transported to the hospital, but the vehicle-versus-motorcycle accident was being investigated by police.
A third crash occurred at about 7:44 pm on Sunday, along the 1100 block of Allentown Road in West Rockhill Township. Rescuers found the rider off the motorcycle and requesting medical care, though they were not taken to the hospital.
The final accident occurred just after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday in Franconia Township. The accident happened at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Harleysville Pike. That rider was taken to the hospital.
