Police were called to the scene of an accident at milepost 1.3 in Carneys Point Township on the New Jersey Turnpike. They found that a wrong-way driver had caused an accident with another vehicle, resulting in four young teens dying.
The driver of a Dodge pickup truck was heading northbound in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. That is when it struck a Mazda USV that was traveling south head-on. The Mazda was being driven by a 19-year-old, and three 18-year-olds were in the vehicle. After the Mazda was hit, it was then struck by a Freightliner tractor-trailer truck.
