A senior citizen was injured in a hit-and-run accident recently. According to initial reports from police, the accident took place at about 6:16pm on Thursday. That is when a 92-year-old person was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Ventnor and Newport avenues.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in the road. The individual had serious injuries that were directly apparent. Medics took the individual to the holiday. It is not clear what their current condition is.
Police then set out to find the driver who had fled the scene of the accident. There was little information available, though witnesses state they believe the vehicle was a white Volvo SUV, including potentially an XC40. Police continue to seek that driver and warn the public that the vehicle likely has front passenger-side damage. Surveillance footage was able to show a picture of the vehicle. The Ventnor City Police are continuing to investigate.
Why People Flee After an Accident
In many situations, a person who strikes another person or vehicle will flee the scene. They do this because they react poorly to the situation. Some may know they were recently drinking and driving, or they may have a past record that could be made worse.
