Police and rescuers were called to the scene of a fully engulfed recreational vehicle (RV) on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at about 5:35 p.m. on a Thursday. The incident occurred in Franconia Township, near the ramp to Route 63.
The RV was on fire and was pulling another vehicle behind it. The occupants of the vehicle were out of it, and all units were pulled to the side of the road. It did not appear that anyone was hurt in the accident.
Witnesses reported that the rear of a mid-sized RV as well as the front end of the vehicle it was towing were completely destroyed in the fire. It took crews some time to get the blaze under control. As a result, northbound traffic on 476 was reduced to one lane, and delays were experienced for some time. It is not known what caused the fire to start, but the RV was not struck by or did not collide with another vehicle.
RV Accidents Can Be Worrisome
In this case, the incident with the RV may be due to various factors, such as faulty mechanical components or poor maintenance. In situations like this, owners have the right to seek financial compensation against those who may have contributed to their injuries or other losses. A recent repair that was not managed properly or a faulty component could mean others are at fault.
