Emergency personnel were dispatched to Route 70 in Southampton Township near Burrs Mill Road just before Noon on Tuesday for a motorcycle accident. According to a press release from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, a state trooper was conducting a routine patrol when their marked cruiser and motorcycle collided.

The motorcycle rider was transported to Virtua Mount Holly hospital, where he was pronounced around 12:45 PM. The identity of the victim has yet to be released. The trooper did not suffer any injuries in the crash. The investigation by the Attorney General’s Office is automatic and required by P.L. 2019, c. 1 since it involved a law enforcement officer conducting duties and resulted in death.
