Man Dies After Struck by Vehicle in Philadelphia

A pedestrian accident led to the death of a victim at around 4:50 a.m. on a recent Friday morning. The incident took place in the 3100 block of Frankford Avenue in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

Initial information from the police indicates that a blue Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Frankford Avenue when it struck a person. It is not clear if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. The driver stopped and remained at the scene after the accident. Police said the driver was cooperating with police. The victim died of their injuries soon after the accident.

Determining Fault in a Pedestrian Accident

Drivers are always responsible for doing everything they can to avoid a person in the roadway. Most often, a driver has time to stop or avoid a person if they are paying attention and have good visibility. If the driver runs out in front of the car unexpectedly, in comparison, that may not be possible. The driver may not have enough time to stop and avoid the pedestrian, putting the pedestrian more at fault.
