Large Tree Crushes SUV in Kennett Square

A driver recently suffered a nearly fatal accident when a large ash tree fell onto their vehicle. According to reports, the tree exploded into the parking lot of a Kennett Square gas station in Chester County, trapping the person in the SUV initially. A video of the incident captured the tree falling onto the car and crushing it.

In this case, the SUV driver was incredibly lucky to walk away from the accident. Although shocked by what had happened, the driver seemed not to have been substantially hurt.

It is important to note that witnesses of the incident state that drivers have complained to PennDOT about the tree for some time. It was leaning for a period of time before it fell and was not taken care of prior to doing so.

Depending on who owns the tree, that party may owe the SUV driver compensation for the damage sustained to the vehicle and any other damages involved. With the surveillance vehicle from the store across the street, it is clear that the driver did not cause the accident in any way.
