Drunk Driver Hits Pole in Egg Harbor Township

Egg Harbor Township police reported that a vehicle struck a utility pole on a Monday morning, the result of the driver being intoxicated. The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Ocean Heights Avenue close to the South Jersey Yachts. That is where a 2010 GMC Yukon traveling westbound on Ocean Heights Avenue left the roadway. It struck an Atlantic City Electric utility pole with enough force to cause damage to both the vehicle and the pole itself.’

After arriving on the scene, police questioned the driver and the passenger, who had sustained minor injuries. They found that the driver was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A summons was also issued for fourth-degree assault by auto. The area was closed down for nearly 12 hours while police cleared the scene and the pole was replaced.
