A tragic accident took place in Cumberland County on Saturday evening. That is when the driver of a car heading north on South Woodruff Road in Upper Deerfield Township failed to stop at a red light at Irving Avenue. The driver was older.
The driver instead made a right turn and collided with a vehicle that was traveling west on Irving Avenue. A passenger in the second vehicle was killed in the accident. The person driving the other vehicle and three other passengers in that vehicle were hurt in serious condition, and their current condition is unknown. The driver who failed to stop suffered minor injuries. Police have yet to file charges against anyone and were said to be investigating.
Red Light Accidents and Older Drivers
In an accident like this, a full investigation into why the driver failed to stop at the red light will be done. One of the key factors was the ability of the driver to operate the vehicle safely. Factors such as age, changing reaction abilities, and even visibility can play a role in determining what losses are. Every situation is different, but when someone loses their life and others suffer serious injuries, a full investigation is warranted.
