Motorcycle Officers Injured in Procession Accident

A crash during a charity procession on Tuesday morning in Philadelphia led to two motorcycle police officers suffering injuries. Helicopters from local news organizations filmed the incident’s outcome. The helicopter was following the motorcade of police officers that were on the way to the WMMR Preston and Steve Camp Out for Hunger Event located at the Sports Complex.

The incident took place on I-95 in the southbound lanes between Washington Avenue and Christian Street near the Penn’s Landing area. One of the officers swerved to avoid a vehicle that had broken down on the side of the roadway along the left lane. That caused the officer to spin out. That action caused another motorcycle rider to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting him.

Two officers, one from Upper Dublin and the other from Abington, suffered injuries, though they are said to be minor. The accident caused a backup for a short period of time between Christna Street down to Washington Avenue. Speak with a Philadelphia motorcycle accident lawyer today.

What to Do When a Vehicle Breakdown Happens

Vehicles break down frequently on the highway. When they do, the driver must move the vehicle to the side of the road, out of the way of other drivers. The driver should also put on their flashers or use road flares to warn other drivers from a long distance.
