Pedestrian Accidents in Crosswalks
New Jersey law requires that car operators do all they can to stop or prevent striking a pedestrian because of the significant risk of serious injury. It is especially necessary for drivers to pay close attention in crosswalks, where pedestrians typically have the right of way. When that does not happen, the driver can be held accountable for the victim’s injuries. In this particular case, we do not know who was driving the Maple Shade vehicle, but the city could be held accountable if a police officer struck the pedestrian negligently.
