A confusing accident took place at about 2 a.m. on a Sunday night in Collingdale. According to reports, an employee of a Wawa store called 911 for help after a customer shot himself in the thigh inside the store. That led officers to the scene.
Within a few minutes of that call, a Darby Township police officer crashed his car into a utility pole on Sharon Avenue in Sharon Hill. It is believed that the police officer was responding to the gunshot call, though it is unclear if that was the case. Police say the vehicle crashed into a pole, causing wires with a transformer to come down. The officer was not trapped in the vehicle at the time. The officer was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. There was no update on the condition of the police officer, but he credits a seatbelt with saving his life.
Filing a Claim After Being Hurt at Work
